We're working on Saul only having his pacifiers in his bedroom for nap and bedtime. He doesn't have one at school all day, so this seems like it should be easy. But, it's not. A few nights ago after we got his pajamas on and as we were making our way to the living room to watch a little tv before bed we had the following conversation:
Saul: Momma, can I have a pacifier with me while I'm watching tv because I'm really sleepy.
Me: Well, if you're really sleepy, maybe we should stay in your room and go night night.
Saul: No. But I just need my pacifier to help me feel better because I'm a little sleepy.
Me: (hesitating) Hmmm...(wondering if I want to say "no"...)
Saul: (taking advantage of the silence) I really want my pacifier. Can we arrange that?
What?!

This conversation sounds eerily familiar. Kate's "But I'm sleepy, Mommy" is code for "I want my pacifier, even though it is not time for me to nap or go night-night." Oh, the drama!
It is amazing that he used the phrase..."can we arrange that?" Where has he heard that? Love the thinking of the little ones.
